The Dark Crystal

 

We'll be reviewing this film this week.  Below is a short clip from the movie.  I can't begin to tell you how little I'm looking forward to this movie.  I watched it as a child with my parents and I'm pretty sure we actually walked out on it.  As I remember the event I was disappointed about being dragged out of the movie, but in retrospect, I know now that my parents were doign right by me.  

 

Muppets are awesome.  Kermit has a special place in everyone's heart.  Then you have the Fraggles and all that ~ they all have a warm and welcome place in American television history.  But The Dark Crystal is a horrific stain on cinematography and the human psyche.  A full scale feature film starring puppets.  There was just no way this could have ended well.  Sure, the muppets featured in many great and heartwarming films, but they were established, loved, cozy even.  The weird-ass noseless elfish things that Jim Henson tries to pawn off in this Lord of the Rings knock off are just a bit too freaky and make one wonder a bit about what lied behind the gimp mask.  Well, maybe that's just me.
